Lifesaving surgery urgently needed.
Back in January, A2B was approached by missionaries from Lac, a town north of Tirana, desperately seeking help for Kledi, a 15-year-old boy suffering from a critically advanced case of scoliosis. His parents are poor and unable to access the medical support he so urgently needs. Thankfully, A2B were able to take Kledi down to St Luke’s hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. During the initial medical evaluation, doctors expressed serious concern for his life, as spinal deformity had seriously compromised the normal development of his internal organs. They discovered that Kledi’s lungs are functioning at approximately 50%, which makes his condition particularly critical.
After carrying out the appropriate tests, the medical team has become more optimistic and has expressed hope for Kledi’s life, opening the way for treatment and surgical intervention.
The next steps will be determined by the medical team after further testing, but should begin with surgical planning before setting a date for surgery.
The initial cost estimate provided by the hospital ranges from €25,000 – €30,000. The attending physician has assured us that he will assist in reducing this cost as much as possible, within the hospital’s capacity.
A2B have begun a campaign in Albania to raise money to help cover the cost of Kledi’s treatment in Greece. If you would like to contribute too, you can donate here, via our UK partner, House of Opportunity.
Call for prayer
We kindly ask you to join us in prayer for:
- God’s wisdom and guidance over the entire medical team.
- Successful surgeries and full recovery for Kledi.
- God’s provision for all financial needs, as Kledi’s family is facing severe economic hardship, and his father is also suffering from a mental illness.
