Changes to A2B banking in the UK
The following announcement concerns only the UK registered charity, Aid to the Balkans UK (A2B UK), Reg. Charity in Eng & Wales 1168468, which was set up in support of A2B Albania, and has served as the primary mechanism for UK fundraising for the work in Albania for many years.
A2B UK merged with another UK charity, House of Opportunity (Registered in Eng & Wales as FSCI (UK), 1170914) in 2025. The charities now share a board of trustees, which is responsible for running both entities in good order. All the functions of A2B UK are now being carried out by House of Opportunity.
Now that the merger between House of Opportunity and Aid to the Balkans UK is complete, our trustees have taken the decision to close the A2B UK charity, as having two organisations carrying out the exact same functions is obviously not the most efficient way to deliver for donors or beneficiaries. It is hoped that A2B (UK) will be able to close at the end of March 2027.
This will not affect A2B Albania, which will continue to lift dignity and restore hope for marginalised and poor people in Elbasan and beyond. It will simply receive UK donations via one main UK charity; House of Opportunity.
House of Opportunity is fully committed to supporting A2B Albania
House of Opportunity will now be the host for UK fundraising for the work of A2B Albania. Both organisations are committed to providing a route out of poverty and away from exploitation for those growing up in marginalised communities or leaving care in the country.

Current Donors – You can help by taking action
Your faithful support for A2B Albania has been invaluable over the years and we would be very grateful if you felt able to continue. Please, if you have a standing order or other arrangement (CAF or Stewardship, for example), could you take steps to end your giving to Aid to the Balkans (UK), and start new arrangements to give a regular donation to House of Opportunity?
