At just three weeks old, Gabriel’s life hung in the balance. Malnourished and vulnerable, he was born to a teenage mother in a remote mountain village. When social workers reached out to A2B, his first cry for help was answered.
For the past 13 years, Gabriel, his mother, and his grandparents have been supported through Family Link — and through the kindness of you, our supporters. Quite literally, A2B has been a lifeline for this family. Without your generosity, Gabriel’s story might have ended before it began.
Over the years, the Family Link team has provided food parcels, clothing, and essential items, while also repairing the family’s home — fixing the roof and installing windows where none had existed before. These practical acts of care brought dignity and hope to a family living in deep poverty.
Life was not easy for Gabriel. His mother, struggling without qualifications or skills, left him in the care of his grandparents while she moved away to start a new family. When Gabriel turned 13, he was invited to live with her — but instead of being welcomed, he was exploited. Trapped in a form of modern slavery, Gabriel was forced to work, denied education, and forbidden to leave.
Once again, Gabriel cried out for help. And once again, A2B responded swiftly and compassionately. With prayer and the support of the authorities, Gabriel was freed and returned to the safety of his grandparents’ home.
Today, Gabriel is living the life every 13-year-old deserves — attending school, surrounded by the love of family and friends, and supported by his A2B family. His journey is a powerful reminder of why our mission matters: to lift dignity and restore hope in the most desperate of situations.
